Mechanism Registrar Tambadou signs Memorandum of Cooperation with BiH authorities on registration of judgements of conviction
The Registrar of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (Mechanism), Mr. Abubacarr M. Tambadou yesterday took part in a signing ceremony with Mr. Davor Bunoza, Minister of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) to conclude a Memorandum of Cooperation (Memorandum) on provision of information from judgements of convictions of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and the Mechanism.
Mechanism Registrar Tambadou on official visit to BiH from 28 to 31 January
The Registrar of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (Mechanism), Mr. Abubacarr M. Tambadou, will be on an official visit to Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), from 28 to 31 January 2024.
As part of the visit, Registrar Tambadou will hold meetings with a number of BiH government officials, including Minister of Justice of BiH, Mr. Davor Bunoza, to discuss the ongoing cooperation between the Mechanism and the BiH authorities, including Mechanism’s continued operations in BiH.
Registrar Abubacarr M. Tambadou inaugurates the second semester of the Mechanism’s Inter-University Video Lecture Programme
The Registrar of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (Mechanism), Mr. Abubacarr M. Tambadou, today opened the second semester of the fifth cycle of the Inter-University Video Lecture Programme (Programme), titled “International Law and Facts Established before the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY)”. Registrar Tambadou delivered a lecture on the role and functions of the Mechanism for law students from 14 law faculties and one faculty of political sciences from across the region of the former Yugoslavia.
President Gatti Santana briefs the UN Security Council on progress of Mechanism work
The President of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (Mechanism), Judge Graciela Gatti Santana, today presented the Mechanism’s twenty-third progress report to the United Nations Security Council (Council) in New York.
President Gatti Santana began her address by highlighting the historical significance of the Genocide Convention and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted 75 years ago, which she described as “a cornerstone for the Yugoslav and Rwanda Tribunals”.

Today, the President of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (Mechanism), Judge Graciela Gatti Santana, officially launched the fifth cycle of the Mechanism’s Inter-University Video Lecture Programme (Programme). President Gatti Santana delivered an opening lecture on the creation and jurisdiction of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) to over 120 postgraduate students from 14 law faculties and one faculty of political sciences from across the region of the former Yugoslavia.

Mechanism Holds Property Gifting Ceremony in Arusha
The Registrar of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT or Mechanism), Mr. Abubacarr M. Tambadou, officiated today at a property gifting ceremony held at the IRMCT’s branch in Arusha, Tanzania. The ceremony involved the handing over of five vehicles, four computers and various pieces of office furniture to the Arusha Regional Police Office, the Kilimanjaro Regional Police Office and the Arusha Regional Immigration Office.
