Mechanism engages in a discussion of judicial working methods organized by the Rwandan judiciary

On 20 June 2024, the judiciary of the Republic of Rwanda (Rwanda) organized a collaborative, day long exchange with the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (Mechanism). Hosted in Kigali, this dialogue was the result of the initiative of the Rwandan judiciary, which identified the most salient topics and arranged for around 30 of its Judges and judicial personnel to participate in the exchange alongside experienced judicial staff of the Mechanism.

The training for the researchers and the subsequent research was organised by the Youth Initiative for Human Rights, Serbia (YIHR).

MIP participates in the Summer School ‘Wars of the 1990s”

On 14 June 2024, the Mechanism Information Programme for Affected Communities (MIP) participated in the Summer School entitled “Wars of the 1990s”. The Summer School was held over five days in Divčibare, Serbia, and gathered 20 historians and social scientists. The school is organised by the Association of Citizens for Democracy and Civil Education, Civic Initiatives, and is part of a wider project supported by the United Nations Development Programme.

Mechanism Archives and Records Section holds online training for legal practitioners and researchers from Rwanda

On 13 June 2024, the Archives and Records Section of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (MARS/IRMCT) delivered an interactive online training session for approximately 20 legal practitioners from the Certa Foundation from Rwanda. The session focused on navigating and accessing the extensive archives of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) and the IRMCT using the Unified Court Records Database (UCR).
