MIP holds lecture on crimes committed in Kosovo

On 6 August 2025, the Mechanism Information Programme for Affected Communities (MIP) held an online lecture on judicially-established facts relating to crimes committed in Kosovo during 1998 and 1999. The lecture was part of the Summer School for Transitional Justice, organized by the Humanitarian Law Centre Kosovo and held in Prizren. Participants included students of law, sociology and journalism, civil society activists, and young professionals of different ethnicities from several municipalities across Kosovo.

On the occasion of the Day of International Criminal Justice, the Principals of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (Mechanism), President Graciela Gatti Santana, Prosecutor Serge Brammertz and Registrar Abubacarr M. Tambadou, issued the following statement:

On 17 July, as we commemorate International Justice Day and the adoption of the Rome Statute, we are reminded of our shared responsibility to uphold international criminal justice and to ensure accountability for the most serious crimes of concern to the international community.

IRMCT Principals participate in 30th Commemoration of the 1995 Genocide in Srebrenica and related events in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Today, the Principals of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (Mechanism) — President Graciela Gatti Santana, Prosecutor Serge Brammertz, and Registrar Abubacarr M. Tambadou — were honoured to participate in the 30th Commemoration of the 1995 Genocide in Srebrenica, held in Potočari, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), where they paid their respects to the victims and survivors of the Genocide.

Young lawyers from BiH engage in dialogue with IRMCT President on the legacy of the ICTY

Today, the President of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT), Judge Graciela Gatti Santana, participated in a special discussion with young legal professionals at the Sarajevo Information Centre on the ICTY, organised by the Association ‘PRAVNIK’ with the support of the Mechanism Information Programme for Affected Communities (MIP).

MIP participates in Remembering Srebrenica – 30 Years Later in Brussels, hosted by the EEAS

 

The Mechanism Information Programme for Affected Communities (MIP) participated in the event Resilience and Memory: Srebrenica 30 Years Later, held at BOZAR in Brussels, to commemorate 30 years since the 1995 genocide in Srebrenica. Organized by the European External Action Service (EEAS), the event brought together diplomats, civil society leaders, journalists, academics, and students to honour the victims and reflect on the role of culture, memory, and justice in post-conflict recovery.

Exhibitions “Memento: Fragments of the Srebrenica Genocide” and “Srebrenica: Timeline of a Genocide” open at EEAS Headquarters in Brussels

To mark the upcoming 30th anniversary of the 1995 genocide in Srebrenica, the European External Action Service (EEAS) opened today two exhibitions at its headquarters in Brussels: Memento: Fragments of the Srebrenica Genocide, produced by the Post-Conflict Research Center, and Srebrenica: Timeline of a Genocide, produced by the Mechanism Information Programme for Affected Communities (MIP).
