Prosecutor on mission to Kigali

Mechanism Prosecutor Serge Brammertz visited Kigali on 27 and 28 June for regular discussions with Rwandan authorities. The Prosecutor met with Minister of Justice Johnston Busingye and Prosecutor General Jean Bosco Mutangana, as well as members of the diplomatic community. He also visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial and paid his respects to the victims.

Mechanism hosts meeting of information management professionals to mark International Archives Day 2018

The International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (Mechanism) today hosted a meeting of 40 representatives of Information Managers in International Organizations (IMIO) at the premises of its Hague branch. The meeting was organized in celebration of International Archives Day 2018.

First Information Centre on ICTY in the former Yugoslavia opens in Sarajevo

The City of Sarajevo, with the support of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (Mechanism), today opened the Sarajevo Information Centre on the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (Centre), the first such information centre to be opened in the region of the former Yugoslavia. The Centre will provide direct and guided access to the public judicial records of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) as well as promote the ICTY’s legacy.

The President of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals, Judge Theodor Meron, yesterday briefed the UN Security Council on progress toward ensuring accountability for serious violations of international law and the role that different actors, including the Council, can play to advance efforts in this regard.

Bosnian Law students visit the Mechanism’s Hague branch

The study visit of 40 students of the Law Faculty of the Zenica University, Bosnia and Herzegovina, to the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (Mechanism) concluded on 10 May 2018, following two days of lectures and presentations. The visit provided the students with a unique insight into the mandate, work and practices of the Mechanism, as well as the achievements and the legacy of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY).

Mechanism Welcomes the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Rwanda

The International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (Mechanism) received a visit from the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Republic of Rwanda, His Excellency Johnston Busingye, at the premises of the Mechanism’s Arusha branch on Wednesday, 9 May 2018.

Representatives from the Mechanism warmly welcomed the delegation, thanked the Government of Rwanda for its continued support to the work of the Mechanism and provided a briefing on the new premises of the Mechanism in Arusha.
