Today, the President of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (Mechanism), Judge Carmel Agius, received a delegation from the East African Court of Justice (EACJ) headed by its President, the Hon. ICTR Fugitive Protais Mpiranya Confirmed Dead

The IRMCT Office of the Prosecutor confirms today the death of Protais Mpiranya, the last of the major fugitives indicted by the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) and alleged to have been a senior leader of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. There are now only five outstanding fugitives under the IRMCT’s jurisdiction.

Chief Prosecutor of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (Mechanism), Serge Brammertz is visiting Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) from 4 to 8 April 2022.

Today, Prosecutor Brammertz was in Sarajevo and made opening remarks together with the President of the Mechanism, Judge Carmel Agius at a conference marking the 30th anniversary of the start of the Siege of Sarajevo.

Tambadou, will conduct an official visit to the city of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) from 4 to 7 April 2022.

Today, the Minister of Justice and Public Administration of the Republic of Croatia, His Excellency Dr. Ivan Malenica, visited the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (Mechanism) in The Hague and met with the President of the Mechanism, Judge Carmel Agius. Ms. Maja Vitaljić, Director of the Croatian Directorate for European Affairs, International and Judicial Cooperation and Prevention of Corruption, was also in attendance, together with the Croatian Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Her Excellency Ms. Dubravka Plejić Marković.

Today, the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (“Mechanism”) donated a Police Post to the Arusha Regional Police at the Ngorbob Village, in the Kisongo area of Arusha, United Republic of Tanzania. The hand-over ceremony was held in the presence of the Arusha Regional Police Commander, Mr. Justine Majura Masejo, and a representative of the Arumeru District Commissioner, Mr. Hudhaifa Kassim Rashid.
