Mechanism holds diplomatic briefing in The Hague

The President of the Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals (MICT or Mechanism), Judge Theodor Meron, was awarded the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland at a ceremony held today at the Polish embassy in The Hague.
ICTY and MICT Prosecutor Serge Brammertz will be in Sarajevo on 15 and 16 May 2017, as part of preparations for his regular biannual reports to the UN Security Council (UNSC).
The Prosecutor will meet with Acting Chief Prosecutor Gordana Tadić, and will join Prosecutor Tadić in meeting with representatives of victims’ organizations to discuss war crimes justice in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Prosecutor will also meet with TRIAL International to discuss compensation for victims of war crimes. Finally, the Prosecutor will brief members of the diplomatic community.
The President of the Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals (MICT or Mechanism), Judge Theodor Meron, on Tuesday, 25 April 2017, met with a delegation of the American Bar Association (ABA) at the Mechanism’s Hague branch. The delegation, comprising over 75 judges, lawyers and other legal professionals, visited the MICT as part of a programme, organized by the Judicial Division of the ABA, focused on international law and international legal institutions in The Hague.
The Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals (MICT or Mechanism), on Thursday, 13 April 2017, received a delegation of 70 students from the Faculty of Law of Arusha-based Tumaini University Makumira at the premises of the Mechanism’s Arusha branch. The students, at varying stages of their law degrees, are also members of the University’s Law Society.

The visit was part of a broader programme organized by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation to discuss the role and challenges of the International Criminal Court.
