Initial appearance of Stanišić and Simatović before the Mechanism
The initial appearance of Jovica Stanišić and Franko Simatović was held today at The Hague branch of the Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals (MICT). Both accused entered a plea of not guilty before Pre-Trial Judge Burton Hall. This is the first retrial to be held before the Mechanism since its establishment.

he Prosecutor of the Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals (MICT) and the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR), Justice Hassan B. Jallow, today, presented his latest six-monthly report on the activities of the Office of the Prosecutor of the Mechanism and the Office of the Prosecutor of the ICTR to the United Nations Security Council. This report was also the last report to the Security Council in respect of the ICTR with its imminent closure on 31 December 2015.

Today the Mechanism has launched a new online research tool, the Judicial Records and Archives Database (JRAD), which is aimed at enhancing access to the public judicial records of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) and the Mechanism.
