The International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (Mechanism) received a visit from the Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany, His Excellency Heiko Maas, at the premises of the Mechanism’s Arusha branch on Friday, 4 May 2018.

The representatives from the Mechanism’s three organs warmly welcomed the Minister for Foreign Affairs, who was accompanied by a team of his close aids, including the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Tanzania, His Excellency Detlef Wächter, and provided an overview of the functions and structure of the Mechanism.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs visited the courtroom, the archives and the library of the Mechanism.

The Mechanism representatives thanked the Government of Germany for its unwavering support to international criminal justice and to the international criminal tribunals in particular, including the Mechanism.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs thanked the Mechanism’s representatives for their hospitality, reiterated the Government of Germany’s support to international criminal justice and to the important work of the Mechanism.
